Paris

Paris was also an amazing trip. There was lots to see in Paris such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc du Triomph, walk down Champs Elysees, see the Eiffel Tower, visit the Louvre Museum and go on a boat cruise. Paris was beautiful, full of an amazing history and culture that I enjoyed learning about. We also had the privilege to go see the Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs exhibition, which was so damn cool. Unfortunately we weren't aloud to take pictures, but it was interesting to learn where exactly Louis Vuitton came from and the man who created this world-wide known brand. Marc Jacobs had obviously made a big impact on Louis Vuitton as we know it today and the exhibition show cased his visions and inspirations, and as wacky and crazy Marc Jacobs would get with his designs over the years, it was evident he always tried to stay true to Louis Vuitton. My spring break was the best I had ever had, the perfect way to end my grad year don't you think?

London

My London trip was phenomenal. We had the opportunity to have a fashion tour and talk to 2 fashion designers. The first pair of fashion designers created a brand called Junky Styling. The main idea of their designs was that they recycle clothes, meaning, instead of getting new fabric for every new piece of clothing they create, they use old clothing. Some of their first designs were made out of men's suits and transformed into the most unique pair of women's pants. They are extremely creative in the ideas they come up with and their whole recycling concept is very smart. Customers are welcomed to bring in their own clothes and request it to be made into something else, which I think is brilliant! Also, since they recycle clothing, you are buying a one of a kind piece so you can be assured no one else in the world will have the same piece of clothing as you. Their shop and story was inspiring and it was refreshing to witness such a unique take on fashion. If you would like to learn more about Junky Styling visit their website at http://www.junkystyling.co.uk/

The second fashion designer we met was a woman who had an interest in 3D fashion. She collaborated with different artists and came up with extraordinary dresses that seemed to be possible only in our creative minds. She also created a 3D model of a doll, if you take a look I took pictures of it. Apparently it was created from 3D printing, incredible! Unfortunately I did not catch the woman's name or brand name but she was so lovely to listen to (not just because of the british accent, which yes, I LOVE hehe.) Her story of how she came to where she is today was inspiring. She talked about how she was always eager to learn and to be better at everything even though she wasn't particularily good at it she always pushed herself to become good at it, whatever it was she wanted to do. Her fascination with science and history had helped mould her creations that she has presented today. She inspires me because even though she didn't come from a very wealthy or educated family, she pushed herself and strived for success no matter what. She never let herself feel defeated and she accepted failure, because how else can you grow as a person if you don't fail?
